There are many ways to improve the power and response of modern engines: turbo upgrades, free-flowing exhausts, ECU upgrades and remaps. please refer to the update matrix here BMW E65 SP-DATEN Update files. One thing I hate is no steering wheel control for next/back and pause/mute. That said, in both the BMW and the Tesla I rarely do any of this while driving so it's a bit of a moot point other than I don't enjoy using iDrive even when sitting still.

It takes so much longer I feel much more distracted doing it too. Again, the jog wheel turns are not bad at all it's mainly about those 8 pushes. It would help if the action wasn't so heavy but honestly things I can do with two screen taps take 8 pushes and MANY jog wheel turns in my BMW. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a push here or there, but because of the deep menus, it's 5-10 pushes to do one thing. While I like the job wheel, I hate pushing it down for selection. Everything gets hidden 14 levels deep in some menu structure. The problem with it is while it's a consistent way to access ANYTHING in the car configuration with a physical control, that also requires that you build a huge nested set of menus. Most annoying part is when frooze and return home page. Remember how much hate it garnered when they first launched it and even after they smoothed out some of the rough edges? As good as it was at the time, you still had people moaning about everything should be a simple push button without a screen. Problem is when you do something in iDrive (example when you enter settings) around 5 seconds it froze and return home page. Jog controls, finger pads, joysticks are all done. Using voice or touching a screen in your driveway to setup the nav or pick a playlist isn't the end of the world. No matter which I flip or push or pull, it doesn't seem to affect the wipers like I think it would. We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our website. It has several tiny switches that can be used in combination with other buttons and the stalk itself. I got a BMW about a month ago and haven't yet figured out the wiper stalk as I haven't had time to read the manual. That isn't even counting the stalks that looks like it was ripped off a fighter jet. There is even a big button taking up space on the console surface to open the center console which is just bad design. The center console has a roller wheel for volume, pause/mute, next track/previous track/skip forward/skip back, a shifter, hazards, start/stop, modes, follow distance and auto H whatever that is. The center air vent has two buttons which control the front and rear defrost.

Same thing happened with controlling a car, a better way to control them was fewer buttons but I've yet to see a car "without physical controls".

I grow tired of the baseless claims of "without any physical controls" meme going on with car guys these days.
